Come and join me to unlock the secrets of depicting all aspects of water on beautiful Lady Elliot Island, situated on the pristine southern Great Barrier Reef.

Courses are offered annually in late winter. Please contact me for dates and availability.

Through a series of illustrated talks, practical demonstrations and guided tuition, we will explore all aspects of the marine environment, and depicting it through drawing and painting.

Over five days the course will cover painting waves, sand, and approaches all depths of water – from deep seas to shallow transparent water, underwater scenes, and wet surfaces. Reflections, ropes, boats, rust, foam and clouds will also be covered, as well as putting it all together.

The demonstrations will be done using both drawing and acrylic painting, and the materials will be provided for these, but this course is suitable for artists in all media.

There will be daily opportunities to both draw and photograph, and time to enjoy the incredible natural beauty of the island. The annual migration of the Humpback whales is generally underway at this time, and Lady Elliot is known for its year-round Manta-ray and turtle populations.

A guided glass bottom boat trip and snorkel is included in the course cost, with a range of other activities available at a discounted rate.

Places are limited, and final numbers need to be known by mid April. There are a couple of different options for accommodation and transport to the island, so for full details please email:
